Why the heck is it taking so long?
Because the designs are being done in-house to save money, There are a lot of community ideas, NZTA requirements to consider
How much did the signage designs cost?
The concepts have been designed in-house by staff in Council's communication team. Staff also attended Community Conversation sessions on the Waitaki Story to gather public input into the designs.
How much will the new signs cost to make and install?
That depends.
Once we get a steer from our community on whether they prefer cheaper, more short term materials, or more expensive, durable and long lasting options we can go out to RFQ (Request for Quotes) from local businesses.
Before we get quotes, we only have a rough idea on how much each sign will cost.
