Why register?

Why do I need to register to participate?

Registering is quick and simple. It helps you and it helps us. It helps you as you can stay connected and informed on projects that interest you.

It helps us because we get to better understand who we are engaging with. It also helps make sure discussions and results are not manipulated by someone leaving multiple comments to support their own position. Your personal details will not appear online. If you participate, only a personalised user name, which you create, will appear along with your thoughts.

We advise that if you want to remain anonymous to other participants, you do not use your name as a user/screen name.

Will my privacy be protected?

Yes. Your privacy is protected as Let’s Talk Waitaki is hosted and moderated by an external independent service provider - Engagement HQ (Bang the Table). No third parties have access to or will be provided with your details as per our Privacy Policy. Unlike Facebook and other social media platforms, Waitaki District Council and Engagement HQ will never sell or give your personal details to other parties.

Why do we ask about demographic data like gender, age and ethnicity?

As we launch this new platform, it will help us to understand who is (and who is not) participating in feedback opportunities. Our goal is to provide a variety of ways for people to engage and share feedback – and to be inclusive, which means being as representative of our community as possible. This data will help us evaluate whether we are meeting that goal.
